Here we go again. Salmonella and nut butters recalled for salmonella. That’s enough for me. I’m going to start making my own (and maybe I’ll add chocolate to it like Big Sis does). We are too much a nut butter house to keep having these salmonella scare. My personal jar is not on this list, but that doesn’t make me feel much better about it. I’m guessing that jar is going to cool its heels in the fridge until I get sick of looking at it. Daggone it – details here. Eat well, be well friends.
Good grief. I look away for a second and it’s recall mania. Hummus and other dips for listeria – see here. Cottage cheese for improper storage(?) – here. And 1.8 million pounds of meat for E.Coli – here. If you don’t use these items, please be sure to share this information with your friends. Nasty business. Eat well, be well.
I’m always surprised when herbs and spices are recalled, but I don’t honestly know why. Apparently they are just as prone as anything else. Check the details on this one here. Eat well, be well, and have a great weekend!
While I don’t eat yogurt, I know from visits to the school cafeteria that many families rely on yogurt cups for school lunches. Details here. If you do use yogurt cups, I’d encourage you to try mixing your own so you can control the amount of sweet stuff in there. If you’re nervous about the other things that apparently might be in there, look into making your own yogurt – apparently it’s easy peasy lemon squeeze-y. Eat well, be well friends.
Good lord. Yep, 5 hours after the kids had a sample of smoked salmon at Costco. Off to do my own research, but wanted to pass this on to you ASAP. Sheesh. Eat well, be well people. And if you’re in the U.S., you might want to give this article about food safety during a government shutdown a gander.
For the kale: listeria, Seattle area Whole Foods. If you’re near there, I’d check it out.
For the spinach: salmonella, Canadian stores (Ontario, Quebec and “other areas”). Details.
For deli salads: listeria, Weis supermarkets. More info here.
All of this makes me extra happy to see news like this. Kudos to Wegman’s for raising standards. Here’s hoping other chains follow suit. Eat well, be well friends.
Krinos brand tahini recalled. Check out the deets here. Eat well, be well.
I know recalls happen all the time, maybe I’m just noticing them more. I can’t possibly share them all (as I don’t see them all), but I’ll share them when I can. Improperly sealed tuna cans. Super. I would think this one would give itself away eventually, but what do I know. For the total scoop go here.
